English Festival

The English Festival is held annually by the Western Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English. This event is for sudents in grades 4 - 12 and was organized in an effort to promote quality reading among our students. Interested students are required to read books from a predetermined list. All students who participate in the festival are organized into teams of four or five in order to paricipate in various activities. The English Festival fro grades 7 - 9 is on May 14, 2015 at Duquesne University.

Registration fee per team is $50 , which is $10 per student. the school will buy one set of books which the students will trade among themselves. YOu may purchase your own set for $35 or individual titles at $8 per book.

Students are required to read all of the books. the students will hear a presentation from a featured author (Steve Roberts). They will compete in various activities throughout the day. These activities are based on their knowlege of the books.

We also need parents to volunteer to drive and be group leaders/monitors for the day. Not all volunteers will need to read the books. If you have time it would be greatly appreciated.
